We are experiencing and learning about winter at Twin Oaks. It is different from city winters. The most significant is our road. If one or both of us had jobs we had to go to everyday we would be spending money on the road. For those who haven't seen it, our road could be described as quite a good trail through the pasture. Pat cleared it Saturday, we were out for a walk Sunday and it had blown in. It has been quite windy and is supposed to be that way for another day. Our plan is to leave the road the way it is and blow it out Tuesday when the wind dies down and Pat has to go to town. Hopefully it will stay that way for a few days.
I have been out snowshoeing a few times since my last adventure. I have stayed out of the pasture. Pat and I have been out together on this side of the ravine and have made some nice trails. Once you get the snow packed it is better and even if it snows you are not sinking so far. I know this I just needed a reminder. I do want to get a trail made on the other side of the ravine. My plan is to bring Pat and get him to lead a good part of the time. I know he will enjoy the challenge!
I was down in the ravine today. It was calm and snowing ever so lightly. I had brought my iPod and was listening to Stephen Moccio (pianist). It was so peaceful.
With the temperatures where they are right now I can honestly say I am loving winter.
This morning I sat in the guest room and watched the sun rise. We look east from the guest room and have almost a 180º view. The sunrise filled that horizon this morning going from a deep rusty orange to a light yellow and coral. The colour changes happened quite quickly and were fascinating to watch. I have had the pleasure of watching so many sunrises and sunsets since we moved here.
Renovation work continues. There are baseboards in most rooms now. Pat and I have determined that we officially have one room completely done. That is the guest room. I should have the camera for the next post and will include pictures.
